There is an opinion that computer skills should be added to some primary subjects in elementary school as math, writing and reading. As for me, it’s mostly reasonable and useful, especially if considering our digital age. To my way of thinking, computer technologies brings an ability of prompt and accurate results. Which positively influences and simplifies studying process at all.
To start with, nowadays most of the information and knowledges are found from Internet resources with a use of global search systems like Google. A variety of online foreign libraries increases every year due to global audience’s interest. For example, internationally renowned universities like Oxford and Harvard provide access to their scientific digests for students all over their world. With a help of that, they encourage schools to refer on their sources while creating workbooks and studying material. That’s why developing computer skill could prepare children for self-studying and data analysis.
Moreover, digital technologies make learning much more interactive and engaging. It’s a well-known fact that gamification develops people’s understanding and remembering. Especially it’s actual in working with youngers whose attention is usually distracted and unfocused. For example, popular online quiz called Kahoot! becomes more and more relevant at schools, even in universities.
On the other hand, availability of different types of online “helpers” such as math apps, AI-chats and solve-books, decreases the level of children’s real skills. For some people, there is no reason to pay time on studying except of personal interest of self-development while the majority of tasks could be solved by one click.
To sum up with, these days computer skills are valuable and essential to learn from very young age. But, they will never replace human’s true knowledges.
