To begin with, the standard of living in most places are expensive and a significant number of people tends to struggle with meeting up with basic needs for example footing of bills such as rents, electricity, water. These in some way shield them away from what they are passionate about, as they need to focus on reliable and fast means of getting the income to cater to their needs.
Furthermore, insecurity issues as many people are afraid of failure. The fear of how to start and also the business not thriving is another thing that kills the zeal for pursuing one’s talent as there is low self-esteem and no motivation to build on. For example a lawyer who is interested in being a fashion designer but scared to start because of her status as a lawyer in the society and the impression she will get from people if she fails at it. Random validation from the public also plays a significant role in people not going for what they are passionate about . In addition the instability of the economic and change in government policies is also a rising factor that affect people in going after their dreams. For example, the steady increase in exchange rate in my country has thrown a lot of people into losses and no hope of it getting resolved anytime soon.
Moreover, the ability of not being able to pursue one’s dream could lead to anxieties, depression, aggressiveness and overwhelming stress. There is no motivation, it just a situation of doing what needs to be done to satisfy needs or flares.
In conclusion, a significant number of people delve through life engaging themselves in what they detest as there is no motivation or because of the financial hardship they face by letting go of what they are talented at.
