The fast development of the Internet facilitates shopping, working and communicating, with a few touches on screens. From my perspective, this trend presents both advantages and disadvantages.
There are several benefits to online shopping, working and communicating replacing face-to face contacts. On the one hand, the Internet allows us to buy almost anything from home and work from home so that we no longer need to travel to physical stores or workplaces, On the other hand, online communication makes it possible for us to chat with others at any time, provided that we are both available. As a result, our lives are becoming more efficient. Moreover, the increased demand for online shopping services drives the supply of good and related services such as customer service and logistics, leading to higher output and boosting GDP.
However, there are also some disadvantages to online contacts replacing traditional contacts. The most evident drawback is that as more people choose to shop online, physical stores will experience a decline in sales, leading to job losses for those employed in these industries, and causing a significant drop in their income. Furthermore, these individuals may feel that the governments should implement regulations to protect them, and without such support, they might feel undervalued and neglected. This lack of support would make it difficult for them to relate to governments, diminishing their sense of belonging to the country, potentially making society less cohesive. Nevertheless, this situation is less likely to occur, as these workers can adapt by opening online stores themselves, reaching a broader range of customers and increasing their income.
While online contact offers significant benefits, such as increased efficiency and economic growth, it also presents challenges like job losses traditional stores. Despite these challenges, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, making it a beneficial trend overall.
