Band 5+: Subjects such as Art, Sport, and Music are being dropped from the school curriculum for subjects such as Information Technology. Many children suffer as a result of these changes. To what extent would you support or reject the idea of moving these subjects from the school curriculum?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A growing number of subjects are being released from education system such as Art, Sport, and Music, and replaced by new fields like Computer Science. A significant number of students are suffering from this tendency, however, I firmly agree with this point of view. An illustration of my opinion will be provided in this essay.

There are two possible reasons why this educational trend advantageous. To begin with, reducing the pressure at school nowadays is obviously essential and additional subjects are may not useful, most students these days spend most of their time at home for homework instead of relaxing, and cutting these lessons can be crucial. This tendency had led to significant amount of cases related to depression, especially in the age range of teenagers. In China, where students spend more than half of the day for learning, there is a growing number of individuals having serious mental health issues. Adding on to this point, drawing, singing or physical activities should be considered as leisure hobbies instead of compulsory subjects, when students finish their school hours, these recreational hobbies can be beneficial in relieving stress and pressure.

Moreover, new schooling fields which are recently added such as Information Technology, can play vital roles for students’ decisions in the future. In today’s job market, most careers require their members to have logical thinking as well as some practical skills, otherwise, subjects which associated to technology will be highly demanded and educating can be an ideal way to improve new generations. For instance, the preference on logistic services and website developer nowadays are becoming more and more developed, furthermore, companies are not only require qualifications in university, degree on technology is also necessary in order to apply for a job.

In conclusion, I completely agree that this tendency is reasonable these days, since it provide more job opportunities for young generations, which is required for most careers. Additionally, cutting art, sports, and music lessons can reduce the pressure on students effectively.
