While some are of the view that focusing on academic subjects is far more crucial for students’ future career, others are more convinced to emphasize on artistic and athletic subjects in education programs at school. In this essay, I will elaborate on both schools ò thought before explaining why I tend to concur with the latter.
On the one hand, people leaning forward to science subjects claim that there is a wider range of choices in the labor market relating to these subjects. As they offer fundamental knowledge for other modules as well as other skills. For instance, mathematics aids pupils to sharpen their critical thinking and problem solving, whereas literature supports their communication ability. In contrast, arts and sports only have direct benefits to a party of students and particular jobs such as athletes or artists. As a result, concentrating on these subjects is presumed as time wasting.
On the other hand, I strongly believe that talent subjects like music, art and physical education also should be fostered as compulsory subjects. The counter argument is flawed as creativity and emotional expression these subjects provide are also profound life skills that even go beyond academic degree. Moreover, this approach would give developing opportunities to every student equally. Therefore, they would not feel being missed out and have enough courage to express their talent and pursue their dream.
All things considered, I think that a balanced approach is effective for students’ careers. It is evident that science subjects give more opportunity to land a high-paid job as market demand, a well-rounded development is more sustainable and better for children.
