In this contemporary era, the trend of sending older people to healthcare homes is very popular. Sometimes, authorities need to step in to pay for their expenses during their stay in the homes. As I think, even if the government is paying, the family should still pay for their family members well-being. I will shed light on my views and reasons in the upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with, old age is a period that everyone will face one day. The first and foremost reason I think family members should pay for them is that it is their primary duty to care for and respect their older family members. Even though it is clear that the person may have paid an enormous amount of money to the authorities in the form of taxes and deserves caring facilities from the government, it is an extraordinary burden on the government because it is already looking after many sectors, such as education, recreational centers, infrastructure, healthcare centers, and many more.
On the other hand, there are many benefits if the family member comes forward to help a family member. For example, if older people know that their families are paying for their care, it will definitely create a sense of love and bonding. Moreover, a person usually sacrifices a lot in their life for the happiness of their family members, such as working hard. So, in their later years, they also need physical and emotional care that only a family member can better provide, such as paying for their diet, clothes, and entertainment, which the government cannot do as well.
To conclude, although I agree that the government has a duty to care for its citizens, I still believe that it is the first responsibility of a family member.
