The idea of living and working in a foreign country is a dream for many people while living and working abroad has its advantages and disadvantages. The majority of people move abroad because of the excellent job opportunities; however, many feel homesick and are unable to adjust to cultural differences. I feel moving to a new country provides one with a new experience and learning new culture, furthermore, this plays a crucial role in developing one’s personality.
Well-developed countries provide excellent job opportunities, tempting salaries and a stress-free work culture. These perks attract a large number of people to move here for work. With good salaries people tend to have higher living standards. Countries like the USA and the UK are hubs for technology and banking sectors in the world, attracting large amounts of migrants to the country.
Consequently, people migrating to foreign countries for living and working often feel lonely and homesick as they have to perform all the daily chores, adjusting to a completely different culture. For example, people who migrate from India to a foreign country often find it difficult to adjust to the cultural difference. With the difference in time zones from their home country, it is difficult to communicate with loved ones, as a result, a lot of people end up feeling lonely and homesick.
I believe one should only move a new country if he or she is ready to tackle these problems and not make a decision just looking at attractive prospects.
In conclusion, migrating to a foreign country for living and working provides you with good opportunities and living standard but, it often disturbs a person’s mental health. In order to tackle such situations he/she can join local communities, attend workshops where they can connect with new people. This will not only improve their mental health but also keep them engaged in activities, which will eventually lead to a healthy mental status.
