The bar chart compares percentages of usage for five different essential items in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan in a single year 2009. Looking from an overall perspective, housing occupied the highest percentage in every nation while health care and clothing contributed to the minority of percentage.
With respect to one of the categories, the USA spent the peak percentage on housing options with above 25% when the rest of countries had below 25%. Then, the second largest items were food and transportation. For the former, Japan had the greatest percentage with 23% which was about two-thirds of the USA although the USA led in housing. For the latter, Canada witnessed 20% which was the peak percentage among other countries and was double that of Japan.
On the contrary, the least used categories, health care and clothing, all nations had a similar percentage below and around 5% respectively except for the USA.
