Many number of people spend their life working for something that they either hate or lack required skill. In this essay, I will discuss why this is the case, and what are the repercussions of this situation.
One of the most significant reason why this can happen is due to the pressure from the family. Most parents tend to push their children towards pursuing the carrier that makes most money. For Instance, In India, the number of students studying engineering is enormously high when compared to other courses. Furthermore, many people realize their interest a bit late in their carrier which makes them choose a profession at which they might struggle. This shatters their dream and they are left with no other option than to continue what they are doing for the rest of their life.
This can have a negative impact on the society. Mental health of majority of the people might be affected. For example, a husband, after working for a company that he hates, might direct his anger towards his wife. As a result, the family dynamics would be effected and they grow to hate each other which could also lead to a divorce in some cases. Moreover, opportunities could also be decreased. To illustrate this point, in India, the number of computer graduates has been increasing over the past few years. This may obstruct genuinely interested people from getting their chance to work at their dream company.
In conclusion, I believe that it is the responsibility of parents to guide their children in the right direction and should also let them pursue what they truly desire.
