Public debate has arisen over whether higher education is crucial for being successful in life, especially in modern era. While some people may hold a belief that with access to the internet learning new fields and therefore, achieving success is easier nowadays, in my opinion, being a part of academic society can contribute to reaching one’s goals faster and more importantly give the chance to see from different perspectives.
On the one hand, some individuals could argue that recent advancements in technology have made the basis for anyone to simply acquire knowledge through searching the net. They assert that with the availibility of data there is no need for a person to pay expensive costs of enrolling in university’s courses, also dedicates years to get a degree. For instance, if someone want to learn programming, they can easily search it in Youtube and there are thousends of videos available; thus, they can be a programmer in a short period of time, and apply for a programming job right after.
On the other hand, others claim that eventhough online courses and resources are available, but many of them are not trust-worthy, in terms of the person who teaches and the content. Furthermore, learning a skill may need some requierments that only professionals can identify them. For example, in computer science major it is important to know about computer architecture first, and then learn coding; hence, profesors consider a course dedicated to computer’s architecture before programming. The reason behind that is without knowing excatly how a computer compile the code, it is not possible to write an efficient programm that works correctly, and fully understand it. Moreover, enrolling in an academic atmosphere makes it possible for students to broden their horizens through intraction with their professors and other students. This can helps them significantly with achivieng success in both their bussineses and other parts of their lives.
To conclude, although some people think that accessing data via internet is enough to start a work and become rich, my opinion oppose. I firmly believe that going to university not only helps with in-depth understanding of the field, but also develop the person’s mind.
