Band 6+: Some people think that developments involving the internet have brought people closer together while others think that people and communities have become more isolated. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s digital era, the Internet has become an integral part of our lives, reshaping the way we communicate and interact with one another. While some argue that the Internet has brought people closer together, others contend that it has led to increased isolation within communities.

On the one hand, some people, who argue that the internet has restricted personal form of interaction, might say that it tampers personal relationships. This is because of the fact that a lot of people prefer to meet virtually rather than meet personally, which makes them socially challenged. For instance, a person who is accustomed to meeting folks regularly over the web will find it perplexing to meet anyone in person, let alone their loved ones. On the contrary, if the internet were a thing of the past, people, nowadays, would have more fruitful relationships similar to they had in the bygone days.

On the other hand, I would argue that the Internet has greatly contributed to closer bonds among people. Thanks to the outstanding development of the Internet, people get connected regardless of where they are located. Even families with different time zones could access online communication by utilizing a deluge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, and Instagram.. For example, international students, even in Europe, can still call to talk to relatives via the Internet. Consequently, this development made people closer together. Moreover, people may extend their relationships without any challenges due to distances. Online communities centered around shared interests provide avenues for like-minded individuals to connect and support one another, amplifying voices and empowering marginalized groups.

To sum up, I agree that the rising internet has caused people to drift apart from each other. In spite of improved communication through online channels, most of them prefer to remain isolated from society and prioritize browsing through social media platforms.
