The line graph compares the percentage of four of age groups European gym attendees through a month or more between 1990 and 2010.
Overall, the proportion of all age groups increased at the last given year, with the 18-24 age group seeing the most significant change.
There was a dramatic increase in the percentage of gym-goers in both 18-24 and 25-34 age groups. Starting at around 8% in 1990, the proportion of the youngest age group rose to 60% in 2006. Despite this considerable increase in 2006, the percentage of young adults decreased to 50% in 2008. The second major changes observed in 25-34 age group whose percentage increased linearly form 1990 to 2010 with 10% and 50% respectively.
The remaining two other groups who went to the gym, 35-44 and 45 and over, experienced similar trends but with minor changes over the period. The proportion of 35-44 age group rose slightly until 1998, and this was followed by significant increase to 40% ate the last year. After a noticeable increase to 10% in 2004, the proportion of 45 and over rose further to 22% in 2010.
