The issue of socially vulnerable groups of citizens is widely discussed. Some people believe that governments shouldn’t help these groups with taxes, while others claim that it’s our responsibility. In this essay, I will delve into both ideas and express my view on this problem.
Firstly, the system of government support is reliable and citizens of countries with this politics can be confident in their future. If an accident or some unforeseen circumstances occur, people always know that their government won’t abandon them in a tough situation. However, the budget for helping retired, unemployed, and disabled citizens is taken from the taxes of other citizens who are not affected by such problems, so they often disagree with giving their money to the first ones.
In contrast, relatives of socially vulnerable citizens give their efforts and money voluntarily. The budget for help can either be taken from a family budget or asked from charities for. In this case, they don’t rely on support from people who didn’t give consent for the usage of their taxes this way. This system is not as reliable and people cannot feel stability though. Tragedies can occur suddenly and one may not expect them, so help can not come when it’s needed. Some people don’t have families that can support them in such situations and, as a result, they may become completely helpless.
In my opinion, the politics when governments support their socially vulnerable citizens is both more humanistic and beneficial for everyone. When citizens pay their taxes, they don’t just give their taxes to unacquainted people but also buy confidence in their future.
In conclusion, there are both benefits and challenges to both systems but the first one seems better for me. When people within one country support each other, it leads to a prosperous and stable future.
