In an era characterized by modern social applications, people have different views as to whether social media causes some negative changes on young people. While there are several drawbacks to this situation, I believe that the benefits of social media take precedence.
Internet community causes a variety of disadvantages. When teenagers utilize social media excessively, they may encounter numerous obstacles. They spend a lot of time for unnecessary information, which negatively affects their productivity, mental health, and real-life social interactions. As a result, they not only waste their time but also neglect their academic responsibilities, develop poor communication skills, and struggle with maintaining meaningful relationships; thereby hindering their personal growth, reducing their ability to concentrate on important tasks, and diminishing their overall quality of life. This overdependence on social media may also lead to lower self-esteem and increased feelings of isolation.
Despite these arguments, the benefits of social media carry much greater weight. When young people use social media responsibly, they can access valuable educational resources, engage in constructive discussions, and develop necessary digital literacy skills, which enhance their knowledge and prepare them for future careers. In doing so, they expand their perspectives, stay informed about global situations, and build professional networks, thus improving their critical thinking, communication skills, and career opportunities.
In conclusion, although excessive use of social media can lead to various negative consequences, I believe that its advantages outweigh its disadvantages when used responsibly.
