Band 5+: Some people think that criminal behavior can have genetic reasons, while others believe that only circumstances can lead some people to crime. Discuss both views and state your opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some of us believe that criminal behavior is due to genetic reasons, although others think that it is because of the circumstances that lead to crime. There could be many reasons for criminals to opt for crimes. Mostly, the situational reasons have been more evident in the case of criminal behavior than the heredity of the lawbreaker. I opined that events can cause criminal behavior. This essay will analyze both the reasons with regard to cause of criminal behavior.

First of all, myriad of individuals feel that the circumstances of the offender can lead to crimes. People suffering from poverty are mostly seen involved in different offenses. The lack of resources triggers them to commit a crime to make ends meet. For instance, a pickpocket is compelled to pick someone’pocket to sustain their life. It is rarely seen a well earning member of society would indulge in such activities. Hence, if a person’ fundamental needs are fulfilled then the chances of getting absorbed in such misconduct would be probably low.

Conversely, another part of the population considers otherwise , which means they primarily blame the genes for such behavior. They feel that this attitude is acquired through your parents. To illustrate, a child will learn such behavior at their home by looking at their father. The environment at the house will teach such misdeeds to the child in an implicit manner. However, I strongly believe that the upbringing plays a major role here irrespective of the occupation of father. The parents may try to fix the situations for their children so that, they should not end up in such offensive behavior. In this case, the parents will ensure to provide good education to their children which will make them a civilized member of the society.

To conclude , the reasons for a person to go for such crime are varied. It is argued that there could be personal or genetic reasons behind it. But, I would stand at a point that it the individual’s conscience to choose between the right and wrong path. Therefore, you may see your family conducting misdeeds and hence would be averse to it.
