Today, buying food that requires little preparation before being served is becoming easier in numerous countries. While I understand that this can be beneficial for several people I believe that the disadvantages of increasing popularity of fast food outweigh the advantages.
On the one hand, it is argued that saving workers’ money is a positive point of spread of fast food. Take students and employees for example. For these categories of people chance to buy a piece of pizza or a hamburger while going to the job or university is a fortune. These people cannot cook due to tight budget and nessesarity to work hard. Therefore the fact that many cafés selling cheap fast food appear is beneficial for them. It solves the problem of hunger and lack of time.
Although, I find more negatives than positives in availability and low price of aforementioned dishes and drinks, Firstly, people get used to consume too many unhealthy products when the number of fast food cafés grows. In other words, fast food often means hight speed of cooking, which leads to low quality. Thus, continuous intake of hot dogs, sandwiches and similar items causes a harmful diet that can have further consequences. One of those is obesity, from which more and more people suffer worldwide.
Secondly, fast food is usually taken out with a lot of packaging. For instance, billions of people buy pizza and lemonade, that is why tonnes of boxes, plastic cups and cans end up in a landfill. As a result we afford fast food, but in the same time we pollute the soil.
In conclusion, despite fast food saves our money and time, it brings issues connected with human health and with environment. Therefore, it seems to me that we gain less than we lose from this.
