The pictures below display the layout of a public library two decades ago and today.
Overall, it is obvious that there is a considerable change on the whole floor of the library. Sofas in the northwest side of the library, a lecture room, a computer room and a cafe, likewise elimination of tables and chairs from the center are the most significant changes.
Looking at the maps in detail, it is noticeable that two sofas have been constructed to the northwest side of the library which was responsible for CDs, videos, and computer games before. The reading room in the left corner of the floor close to the entrance where readers could read some newspapers and magazines, replaced by a computer room. Moreover, adult fiction books between those two parts of the library have been changed by all reference books and have been relocated near to the information desk.
Tables and chairs in the center have been eliminated to allow more free movement of readers. The northeast part of the library has been converted to a lecture room which was previously a children’s books section. Also, in the place of the enquiry desk, which was used for tickets and book returns, a cafe has been built. Between this cafe and lecture room, an information desk and some self-service machines have been constructed.
