So I still have a vivid picture of that morning when I came across some foreign visitor while wandering in Huan Kim Lake. They seemed to be lost and didn’t know how to get to the next destination. Suddenly, they came and asked me, excuse me, could you show us how to get the nearest bus stop? At that point, I was terrified at the thought of having to speak English because I had only learned English in the classroom, so I didn’t know whether I could communicate in real life. I got on the tongue tight and hardly managed to say, let me see. After 5 minutes checking the map, I saw them the way which interrupts direction verb in English. I worried that they didn’t understand me. It was a nightmare. However, to my surprise, they all understood and thanked me a lot. We also have some small communication and I picked up some interesting vocab. This experience gave me a huge boost of confidence. It shows me that the communication isn’t about perfect, it’s about being clear and mutual understanding. This was a turning point in my language learning journey.
