Overall, the proportion of people interested in sports increased in all countries apart from basketball and football. Whille football had the highest percentage by the end of the period, tennis had the lowest share.
In 1999, the proportion of people interested in football constituted 57%, followed by swimming at 32% and tennis as well as basketball each representing around 25%. Volleyball exhibited 17%, whereas golf and yoga showed no more than 10%. By 2004, table significantly changed. Football and basketball experienced a decline, dropping to 52% and 25% respectively. In contrast, Volleyball, swimming, and tennis exhibited a growth, reaching 20%, 34% and 30% respectively. Similarly, the proportion of people interested in golf reached 13%, while this figure in yoga didn’t show any change.
By 2009, the share of football and basketball, and volleyball further declined, decreasing to 48%, 24%, and 18% respectively. By contrast, tennis, yoga, and golf demonstrated a growth, reaching 33%, 17%, and 13% respectively. Despite changes in othe types of sports, swimming didn’t show any significant change.
