The given table compares the whole proportion of interests in sports, which was collected from an European country in years 1999, 2004 and 2009.
Overall it can be clearly seen that, majority of sports sectors experienced a rise in the interest percentage with exception to football and basketball. Most notably, interest proportion in golf has risen the most, which was the exact opposite trend of football.
In both table tennis and golf, the amount of interest rose by 8-9 percentage points, from 25% to 33% and from 8% to 17% respectively, throughout the whole time span. The figure for swimming and yoga, on the other hand, showed only minor changes: the former rising from 32% in 1999 to 34% in 2004 and plateauing, whereas the latter comprised 10% in 1999-2004 and went up to 13% at the end of the period.
As for the interest percentage in football and basketball, the number decreased. The total proportion of interest in football declined gradually from 57%, which was the highest interest proportion, to 48% over the whole period, while that of basketball showed a dip from 26% by 2 percentage points in the following decade. In terms of volleyball, the figure slightly fluctuated, starting the period at 17% and increasing to 20%, then reducing to 18%.
