On the other hand, reading was initially varying, peaking at 40% in 1990s before reaching the lowest point at 20% in 2000s. After that, it started increasing sharply to 60% by the end of the period. The rate of the Internet usage also showed a stable growth. At first, between the 1980s and the 2000s, it had a minimal rise of about 10% before growing rapidly to 50% by the 2010s.
As for the stable trends, the popularity of watching TV maintained a constant level and remained the most common pastime over the period, but it had a slight rise of 10% from the 1980s to the 2000s before falling again by about 5% by the end of the period. In addition, interest in theatre was initially decreasing from 50% to 30% in 1990s ahead of the rise of 10% by the 2000s and about 5% by the 2010s.
