The maps illustrate the transformation of Eastminster city over the 10-year period from 1999 to 2009.
Overall, the city underwent significant development during the period, with the most notable changes being the expansion of housing and healthcare facilities, the introduction of new industrial areas, and the replacement of several infrastructure elements.
Turning to the northern and eastern parts of the city, the residential area was significantly expanded, with streets of houses being redeveloped into apartment blocks. The park in the north-east corner was reduced in size, and the public green space was redeveloped to provide further housing adjacent to the new apartments. Furthermore, the large house with gardens was demolished to make way for a hotel with a golf course.
By contrast, the southern and western parts experienced equally notable changes. The woodland in the north-west was cleared and replaced by an adventure park, whereas the school was relocated from the south side of the road to the north, directly across from its former site. Apart from the original shops, which remained unaltered, the hospital was expanded and a new shopping complex was built, reflecting economic growth in the area. Moreover, the southern area saw the introduction of new industrial zones, consisting of factories and warehouses.
