The given table depicts the university academic staff by subject area throughout the years of 2005 and 2013 while also detailing the change in numbers and percentage and teachers per student in 2013.
In 2005 the academic staff for most subjects were above 10000 but a few such as arts, architecture and agriculture stood at 9204, 2380 and 1680 respectively. In 2013 all subjects, excluding agriculture and education, had increased from that of 2005. The highest change by number was seen in medicine where the staff number of 30664 in 2005 was now 36868 in 2013 which is an increase of 6204 and a change of 20.23%. Subsequently the highest percentile change was recorded to be architecture at 34.62% and a number change of 824. Engineering was recorded to have the least change in both number and percentage while gaining staff, 85 and a 0.50% change respectively. Although, these subjects have seen an upwards trend the aforementioned subjects-agriculture and education-have lost some staff with agriculture losing 47 and education seeing a drop of 334. The overall downwards trend can also be spotted in the percentage changes with both losing 2.80% and 3.05% respectively.
The highest number of teachers per student in 2013 was seen in medicine where the ratio of teachers to students was 1:4 while the lowest was arts with a ratio of 1:12. Engineering had 1:7, Agriculture and education both had 1:8, business had 1:9 and Architecture, science and humanities were all recored to have a 1:11 ratio.
