Overall, the number of Chinese applicants was the highest in first 3 years, then the same category of the USA was at the top in the last 2 years. Russia had the lowest number of students during the period, while Japanese students had a sustainable increase in the same year.

From 2004 to 2006, Chinese students still at the top of the list even if its value had dropped from 27,000 to 18,000. The USA , which saw a significant rise in applicants from 13,000 to 18,000, came next. Japan’s similar category was a tiny increase from 7,000 in 2004 to 8,000 in 2006.
