The bar chart presents data on percentages of undergraduates for both genders who applied for music at a university in Australia between 2000 and 2006, while the pie chart gives a breakdown of their career choices.
Clearly, female students were keen to major in music throughout the period, and it is prevalent to deviate from their major and opt for other occupation among postgraduates.
In detail, in terms of enrolments, the figures for both sexes commenced with the same amount, at 20% in 2000. The ratio of females underwent a spectacular rise to 60% over the given period, whereas that of males remained no more than 20% and in 2006, reached the similar amount as in the beginning of the time frame.
As regards career choice, well over a half of the postgraduates chose different professions. A quarter of whom seem to have been chosen a profession being associated with music. Nevertheless, the same occupation was uncommon, constituting 20% of total options.
