The bar graph illustrates the proportion of households across various income brackets that had access to the internet in a European nation from 2005 to 2020.
Overall, there was a net increase in access to internet across households in all the four categories, namely, low, lower-middle, upper-middle,and high income groups over the 15-year period. While almost all high income houses had the internet by the end of the given period, the same trend is not observed for low income groups.
Initially only 20% of low income households could afford internet access but it rose steadily to above 60% by 2020. A similar trend was observed in the lower-middle income category where the proportion grew from around 30% in 2005 to 80% in 2020.
In case of the upper-middle income bracket, almost half of the households had access to internet at the start of the given time period and at the end, well over 80% of the houses had the facility. The proportion was highest in the high income category across all the surveyed years, with approximately 70% homes having access to internet in 2005 and by 2020, around 90% of homes have the internet.
