The bar chart gives information about which part of the world most migrants came from to Australia in the years of 1987 and 1997.
Overall, the highest proportion of migrants were from Europe, whereas people came less from North and South America in both years.
Regarding to the figures, it can be seen that mostly European people preferred Australia, compared to other regions, reaching its peak at almost 33 million in 1987. Yet, in 1997 there was a sharp decline to under 27. Furthermore, the number for the rest of Asia also experienced the same, with a dramatic drop from 23 to around 13. Over the given period, migrants came less from North/South America, having a slight difference in its numbers, 6 and 5 respectively.
As for the other regions, in 1987, 15 million people were came from Middle East Africa and North East Asia. However, these numbers later climbed considerably, reaching about 20 million for the former and 24 million for the latter. The figure for Oceania saw a significant increase of 10 million (from 12 to 22 approximately) during the given decade.
