Overall, life expectancy in Japan was the highest among the other countries, while Indonesia showed the lowest. In contrast, Indonesia experienced the most significant upward trend in life expectancy, followed by Korea, which showed the second most significant growth. Japan and the U.S. showed almost similar increases throughout the period.
To be more specific, Japanese people lived the longest in 2008, with approximately 82 years. Meanwhile, Indonesians lived for a shorter period, with 70 years. Regarding Koreans and Americans, both showed almost similar patterns, with 78 years for the former and 76 years for the latter, respectively.
As for increases in life expectancy, Indonesians’ life expectancy went up by 15.7 years, the highest increase among the other countries. Meanwhile, Koreans’ life expectancy rose by 12.5 years. Moreover, Americans’ and Japanese people’s life expectancies experienced almost similar growth, with 3 and 3.5 years, respectively.
