The line graph studies population patterns worldwide from 1950 to 2040, showcasing shifts in urban and rural percentages and age distribution.
The percentage of people living in rural areas remains unchanged between 1950 and 2040, while the percentage of people living in urban areas increases significantly. In the other hand, age distribution percentage showing similar pattern in which both age group, under 15 and over 65, relatively constant while 15 – 65 age group increases.
From 1950 to 2040, the number of people living in the countryside stays about the same at 5%. This suggests that rural areas are staying pretty much the way they’ve always been. On the other side, more people are choosing to live in cities, with the percentage going up from 6% in 1950 to 36% in 2040. This shows a pattern of urbanization.
When it comes to the ages of people, there’s a similar story. The percentage of group under 15 and over 65 stays pretty much the same, sticking around 5% from 1950 to 2040. Meanwhile, the age group that’s considered the working-age population, from 15 to 65, shows a different trend. Back in 1950, it was 5%, but by 2040, it climbs up to 35%. This means more people in 15 – 65 age group prefer urban areas.
