The bar graph compares the proportion of non-exercising individuals between the two genders across various age cohorts in 2005.
Overall, the rate of physical inactivity increased with age for both genders, with women consistently less active than men in all age groups.
Regarding males, staying physically active was more common, particularly among those aged 18-24, where only around 12% of men did not exercise. However, sedentary behaviors steadily increased with age among men. Approximately 22% and 28% of men were observed in the 25-34 and 35-44 age cohorts, respectively. As males reached the 45-54 age bracket, their inactivity stood at approximately 33%, increasing to nearly 37% for those aged 55 and above.
Meanwhile, women in all age groups showed a higher inactivity percentage. The lowest proportion among women was in the 18-24 group, at only around 18%, which was 6 percentage points higher than the figure for men. Like their male counterparts, an upward trend in sedentary women was recorded in the remaining age groups. Those aged 25-34 and 35-44 were at around 27% and 32%, respectively. This figure rose to approximately 38% for individuals aged 45-54, subsequently reaching nearly 43% among those over 55.
