The bar chart compares the percentage of participants attending popular, classical and opera music events in different ages in Australia in 2006.
It is clear that popular was the most common music event among younger generations, while classical music events had low attendance rates across all age groups. Furthermore, opera music events had similar attendance rates across most age groups, except for those aged 35 to 44, where attendance was slightly higher.
From the ages of 15 to 24, the proportion of attendees attending popular music events close to 40%, which was slightly larger than the second most common age group of 35 to 44. Likewise, the percentage of participants joining popular one between the ages of 25 and 34 at 27%. While the proportion of peple attending 3 types of music events in the ages of 15 to 24 shot up, those attending 3 types of music in between the ages of 25 to 44 increased steadily.
The other two age group attending music events in 2006 were aged 45 to 54 and over 55. From the ages of 45 to 54, the proportion of people joining popular music events was significantly larger than the age group of over 55 with 13% for the former and 5% for the latter. There was a similar percentage of people attending opera music events in two age group, accounting for 15% of the total for both groups.
