The bar chart compares how many hours men and women worked per week in Australia in 2007. Overall, most people of both genders worked from 30 to 50 hours. While a higher percentage of women worked shorter hours, a higher percentage of men worked longer hours. One exception to this pattern was the category with the largest number of hours, in which the percentage for both genders was equal.
The figures for women were higher in the first two groups where both genders worked the fewest. While figures for me, who worked from 0 to 10 and from 10 to 20 hours per week were only 5% and 12%, they stood at 15 and 23% for women.
The proportion of men in the the next two groups, who worked 30-50 and 60-80 hours was higher than that of women. While there were 44% men working 30-50 hours and 30% working 60-80 hours per week, there 35% 18% of women respectively.
