In 1965, around 50% of the population was obese/overweight, and this figure remained constant until 1985. After that year, there was a slight increase of 10% in 1995. This represented the first rise, and the proportion of obese/overweight continued to rise and reached 70% in 2015.
On the other hand, the pie chart shows the total number of adults who were healthy, obese, overweight, and dangerously unhealthy in 2015. In that year, 6% were so severely obese that their health was at risk, and the sum of all adults who were obese or overweight was more than 60%. Whereas, only 29 percent had normal weight.
Overall, the percentage of obese people has risen steadily over the years, and some of them are already at risk of developing serious health problems.
