Overall, Norway and Iceland had significantly higher proportions of renewable energy compared to Germany and Australia throughout the period. Norway recorded the highest figures in all three years.
In Australia, the percentage stood at 8% in 2000, rose slightly to 10% in 2004, and then fell to 9% in 2007. Similarly, Germany increased steadily from 12% in 2000 to 15% in 2004, before reaching 18% in 2007.
By contrast, Norway had the highest proportion, starting at 61% in 2000 and rising to 65% in 2004. It then experienced a significant increase to 78% in 2007. Iceland also showed an upward trend from 51% to 59% between 2000 and 2004, before declining slightly to 55% in the final year.
