The provided bar chart compares the proportion of male and female academic staff in 7 various departments in a specific higher education institution.
As it can be seen, men made up the majority of academic personnel in most faculties, while women were more represented in arts and history. The gender difference was highly remarkable in the engineering sphere by male community.
In the faculty of engineering, male group dominated by accounting for approximately 90% of the members, while females took only 10%.This is the lowest percentage of female staff among all departments. Although more females than males chose history staff. Consequently, women supplied a significant proportion in comparison with males, by making up just under 75% whereas men had merely 30%. They also made up around 55% in arts, exceeding the proportion of men by slightly 10%.
However, in most departments men illustrate a higher proportion as in Astronomy and Science by taking in both around 70% while women took about 35%.
