Male staff were most heavily concentrated in Engineering, Science, and Law. Engineering was the most male-dominated faculty, with men representing close to 85% of the academic workforce, while women accvounted for only a small fraction. Science followed a similar pattern, with just over 60% of its staff being male, though the difference between the genders was not as extrem as i9n Engineering.
Conversely, a number of faculties were characterised by a strong female majority. The Arts faculty had the largest share of women, at approximately 60%. Education and Medicine also featured more femals academics, with women making up around 55% and just half, respectively. In these areas, male staff formed the minority.
Commerce was the only faculty where the distribution of men and women was nearly identical, showing an almost equal split between the two genders.
Overall, the university exhibited significant gender inblances across its faculties in 2008, with Enginering and Science dominated by men, while Atrs, Education, and Medicine were staffed mainly by women.
