The bar chart compares the percentage of people in Canadia, grouped by age, who gave money to charity in 2000 and 2015.
Overall, it is clear that older age groups donated more than younger ones in both years. While donation rates declined for most age groups in 2015, people aged 50 to 64 were the only group to show an increase.
In 2000, the 35 to 49 age group had the highest donation rate, with around 39% contributing to charity. However, this figure dropped to approximately 34% in 2015. Similarly, donations from those aged 65 and over declined slightly, from about 35% in 2000 to just under 35% in 2015. The youngest age group, 18 to 24, showed the lowest percentage in both years, falling from around 17% to roughly 11%.
In contrast, the only age group to show a rise in charitable giving was those aged 50 to 64. In 2000, around 34% of this group made donations, and this rose slightly to nearly 36% in 2015. The 25 to 34 age group, on the other hand, saw a decline from approximately 29% to 25% over the same period.
