This bar chart illustrates the methods of waste disposal used by four different European countries.
Overall it is clear that the Netherlands, Spain and Italy are all using landfill the most for waste disposal whereas the United Kingdom is using mostly biological treatments and almost not at all landfill. In addition, Spain recorded the highest figures of landfill use while the United Kingdom remains the lowest.
Looking at the figures with more details, Spain has approximatively more than 40% of people using Landfill and less than 30% of people using biological treatments. Similarly, Italy followed a comparable pattern having around 40% of use of landfill and more than 30% for biological treatment in waste disposal.
By contrast, the Netherlands showed a different trend as the second method the most used is burning while biological treatment is decreasing significantly around 10%. Meanwhile, recycling remained relativelty stable across the countries, hovering around 10% to 25%.
