The bar chart compares the average time spent on four various social media apps between 2016 and 2020.
Overall, most apps exhibited an upward trend, while the reverse was true for Facebook. Despite its initial lead, Facebook was surpassed, and ended up being the lowest average time spent. Notably, the leader changed almost every year.
Analyzing apps with a downward trend, the figure for Facebook was initially higher than that of other apps listed (roughly 25). However, it decreased, dropping to a bit higher than zero and recording the lowest amount compared to the whole chart.
Regarding the category that witnessed consistent growth, Twitter had an initial number of 20 and started rising, reaching a high of above 40 minutes of average time spent and taking the lead from Snapchat in the final year.
In contrast, both Snapchat and Instagram experienced an upward trend. Notably, Instagram had a figure of approximately 22 and started to fluctuate, changing from 40 to 20 minutes. In 2017, Instagram reached its peak and was the leader. Despite having the last position initially, Snapchat climbed to its peak (around 41 minutes), managing to keep the lead for two years, namely 2018 and 2019, although this peak was not maintained and dropped to its initial number by the end of the period.
