Focusing on relatively similar figures first – facebook and instagram stood at around 24 minutes and 23 minutes in 2016, respectively. The former figure witnessed a significant fall, reaching an all-time low of 3 minutes in 2020. Despite a sharp growth to about 42 minutes on instagram in 2017, a figure then fell considerably to around 15 minutes prior to a substantial rise to around 35 minutes in 2020.
In terms of remaining figures – twitter and snapchat accounted for about 21 minutes and 11 minutes at the outset, correspondingly. The figure for twitter saw a continuous increase, reaching its high of around 42 minutes and outstripping the all social media apps in terms of average time spent on them in 2020. Meanwhile, the figure for snapchat also followed the same trend until 2019, reaching an all-time high of 43 minutes, before declining drammatically to 10 minutes at the end.
