The given diagram illustrates the three main areas of crime in Manchester city centre from 2003 to 2012. Overall it can be seen that burglary was the main crime in the early 2000’s while car theft was the main crime in the early 2010’s.
In detail, the number of burglaries began to decrease each year where 2004 was the peak year of burglary having a number of 3500 burglaries and in 2008 the number of burglaries was only around 1100 which is the least number of burglaries in a year. Moreover, car theft began to rise each year with the number being between 2200 to 2700 where 2006 was the only year where the number of car thefts decreased.
Additionally, the number of robberies were much smaller compared to burglary and car theft as the peak year of robbery only had around 900 robberies which was in the year 2005. The lowest number of burglaries in a year was around 1100, which was still enough to surpass the peak number of robberies in the year 2005 which amounted to around 900.
