The bar chart provides information about the percentage of five types of school certification by gender in Australia in the year 1999.
Overall, most of the students in skilled vocational diploma program were male, whilst the number of female students in this program was the lowest among all post-school qualifications. The highest percentage of female students was in undergraduate diploma qualification.
In 1999, the largest proportion of male students was in skilled vocational diploma qualification, accounted for approximately 90% of all students. This was followed by the postgraduate diploma and master’s degree programs, with around 70% and 60%, respectively. The number of male students in the remaining academic certifications was below a half.
The undergraduate diploma qualification had the biggest share of female students among all programs. It was about seven in ten, followed by bachelor’s degree program with just over a half. The percentage of female students in other post-school qualifications did not reach half, with skilled vocational diploma program was being the smallest among all of them.
