The bar chart depicts the number of international students in Australia graduating from various types of educational programs between 2018 and 2020.
Overall, the number of international students are separated into 5 types of programs from which they graduated: higher education, VET, ELICOS, schools, and non-award programs. While higher education programs and VET have a lot of graduates, schools account for the lowest number of graduated students. Additionally, between 2017 and 2020, only the number of students who graduated from VET programs increased; the figures for the other four decreased, with ELICOS accounting for the largest decrease.
Looking at programs with the highest numbers of graduates, the number of international students in higher education increased steadily from 150000 in 2017 to 180000 in 2019. However, this figure fell slightly to 1700000 in 2020. Similarly, there was a moderate rise in the number of students who followed the VET program, from around 140000 in 2017 to 170000 in 2019. This figure then declined slightly to about 160000 in the last year.
Regarding three remaining programs with lower graduation numbers, the number of international students in ELICOS courses remains unchanged at about 120000 in the first 3 years, then decreases dramatically to 70000 in 2020. Likewise, the figure for non-award programs saw a stable stat in the number of graduated students at about 30000 in the first 3 years but dipped to 20000 at the end of the session. The number of students in schools also experienced a stable period at 20000 from 2017 to 2020 before dropping slightly to 20000 in 2020.
