The bar chart compares the number of visitors categorized into three major groups: adults, children (under 15 years old), and specialists from 1997 to 2012. Generally, while both adults and special guests experienced substantial growth, the opposite trend occurred in the children’s figures. Additionally, adults remained consistently the largest group throughout the period.
At the beginning, over 300,000 attendees were over the age of 15, which was ten times that of special exhibition visitors’ numbers (at 28,000). In the next ten years, the total number of adult tourists skyrocketed to reach its peak at exactly 400,500 before slightly declining to roughly 380,000 people. Whereas, a marginal but gradual increase of a total of 14,000 visitors in 15 years was displayed in the data for the specialist group.
Concerning the remaining section, children showed the lowest level of enthusiasm in 1997 compared to adults, standing at only 120 thousand visitors. Over the following fifteen years, its figure continued to plummet notably to hit a low of only 82,000 children who explored the museum in 2012. Despite this decrease, the total number of visitors recorded a considerable upward trend of nearly 60,000 new visitors, rising from 448,100 in 1997 to 504,300 people in 2012.
