The given bar chart compares the Internet usage for online shopping of different age groups in Canada between 2014 and 2018.
Overall, there was an upward trend for all categories. While the 35-45 and 26-35 age brackets used the Internet to shop online the most, Internet users aged 65 and above were not likely to prefer shopping online. Notably, the 35-to-45-year-olds witnessed the biggest change over the entire period.
While the percentage of 26-to-35-year-old Internet users shopping online was the highest in 2014 (over 30%), despite rising slightly by nearly 2% over the next 4 years, its figure was surpassed by that of the 35-45 age range. The figure for the 35-45 age group increased significantly by approximately 11%, making it the dominant group in 2018.
The youngest group and the 45-55 age group all experienced a steady growth, but a greater extent could be seen in the figure for the latter, rising to roughly 22% and 28%, respectively in 2018. Meanwhile, the two oldest groups saw a substantial increase. Remarkably, although the proportion of people aged 65 and over shopping online on the Internet was twice as high as its initial data, this age group was still the lowest among other groups, at more than 10% in 2018.
