Overall, the share of those who shopped online witnessed an increase in all the age brackets, with the category of people aged 35-40 replacing those aged 26-35 as the leader.
In 2014, the age group 26-35 stood at nearly 32% and witnessed a peak, followed by 27% of users in the age group between 35 and 45 years. Meanwhile, the 45-55 age group reached about 22%. Young people between 15 and 25 stood at 20% in 2014. At the same time, users aged between 55 and 65 reached nearly 13%, and 65+ users stood at about 6%.
In 2018, the 35-45 group rose rapidly and reached a peak. Meanwhile, the 26-35 group rose slowly and took second place in online shopping. The 15-25 group grew slowly and reached nearly 24% over the period. For people aged 45-55, the percent rose significantly from 22% to 27%, while the 55-65 group increased noticeably from 13% to 17%. The oldest group, 65+, increased twofold over the period from 6% to 12%.
