The bar chart delineates the attendance rates of different age brackets in three types of musical performances.
Overall, popular music was the most popular among 15-to-44-year-olds, with a clear preference being exhibited by the youngest age bracket. By contrast, classical music was the least popular genre among all age groups, except for the eldest one despite it having the lowest rate compared to others. It is also noteworthy that the greatest involvement in opera concerts was recorded only in the 35 – 44 cohort, and this genre was the favourite one for the oldest age group.
Popular music saw highest participation rates among the 15 – 24, 25 – 34, and 35 – 44 cohorts, with figures ranging from 38% and 27% and the youngest one exhibiting the greatest involvement. In contrast, this type of concert attracted a significantly lower figure of only 13% for those aged between 45 and 54 and was the least popular among the eldest age group with an attendance rate of only 5%.
Opera performances were most attended by those belonging to the 35 – 44 cohort, as their level of participation in this type of concert was 25%. This figure was nearly twice as high as that of all other age groups whose attendance rates were around 15%, with the 15 – 24 age bracket showing the lowest attendance in this genre (13%).
Moving on to classical music concerts, they were the least popular among all given genres for most age groups, except the eldest one, for whom the attendance rate was 8%, which was comparable to that of the 25 – 34 bracket.
