Around one fifth of women in the UK consumed five portions of fruits and vegetables per day in 2001 which gradually increased until reaching its peak at around 40 percent in 2006. However, men and children failed to have a steady growth in average consumption right from the start.
For the first three years men and children fluctuated around and respectively. Then, these two groups experienced an increase in consumption of fruit and vegetables until men reached its peak around of the population in 2006 alongside children slightly above a quarter of its group in 2007. After they reached their peak all three groups experienced a slight decline, though consumption remains higher than the starting point
