The bar chart compares the gender distribution of students in six art-related subjects at a university in the UK in 2011.
Overall, female students outnumbered males in most subjects, except for Art and Design. Communication and Media Study has the highest female enrollments, while English language and Literature attracted the most male students, and both were popular choices.
The number of male enrollments varied from 50 to 240 across each subject. The most attractive study art-contained program that caught approximately 240 males involved was English language and Literature, followed by more than 200 male students specializing in Communication and Media Study. Philosophy witnessed the lowest proportion of male students, with 50 participants. There was a variation in male enrollments in the remaining three subjects, from nearly 100 to 200 students above.
Female enrollments were far higher than male counterparts. English Language and Literature, which contained 250 female students, was one of the programs that had the highest number of females. The number of these reached its peak in the Communication & Media Study, with over 250 participants. Linguistics, Philosophy, Art & Design, and History & Archeology showed enormous variations, from 240 in Linguistics to 150 in Philosophy and nearly 140 in History & Archeology.
