The diagrams compare the proportions of visitors to different types of tourist attractions in Britain in 1999.
From an overall perspective, it is evident that tourists visited four main types of destinations, namely Wildlife Parks & Zoos, Theme Parks, Historic Houses & Monuments, and Museums & Galleries. As for Theme Parks, the chart depicts that there are five parks that attract visitors.
With regard to the four major sectors, Themes Parks and Museums & Galleries accounted for the highest proportions of visitors during the year 1999, with 38% and 37% respectively. While 16% of the overall tourists went to Historic Houses & Monuments sectors, the figure for Wildlife Parks & Zoos was nearly half as much as that in this year.
Regarding the subsectors of the Theme Parks, Blackpool Pleasure Beach was by far the most attractive destination with nearly half of theme-parks-visitors going there during 1999. Meanwhile, 17% and 16% of them reported visiting Alton Tows and Pleasureland, Southport respectively. In 1999, it can be seen that Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland, Windsor drew in the same proportion of tourists, with the figures of 10%.
